Being in one of my nosy moods, I decided to try to find out just where did the idea of the vibrator come from. Searching for the history of the vibrator led to this:
In 19th-century Britain, women suffering from chronic anxiety were prescribed pelvic finger massages. Doctors found this tedious and time-consuming, so they invented something to do the job for them.
